This dinosaur-like marine reptile is part of the Jehol Biota Group and was found in the Yixian Formation between the Liaoning Province and Inner Mongolia.  The Jehol Biota Group ranges from the Late Jurassic to the Early Cretaceous and is famous for the several species of bird fossils and dinosaurs found with primitive feathers
